You need to do your research on a painter, contemporary or historic, and present them to the class. This should be someone you think has merit and would be an excellent exemplar. Your images and information should all fit on a single sheet of paper. Digital copies, Word or Acrobat please, are highly recommended if you want color reproductions for the class. It would be best to mail me the digital copy.

Web search

During your search you will probably be search on the web for information about the artists. I highly suggest Google because of the image search option. You can find your artist's images easily with this tool. Click on the white Web search to go straight to Google.

Presentation

The requirements for your presentation include a short biographical background sketch of the artist. The focus of our talk will be on the paintings: their plastic side (use of principles and elements of design) and their intended meaning or reason for being created. We will look at images, find themes, and discuss the artistic intent for the work.

In your research, look for images and select one for each point you would like to contribute to the discussion. I will be giving points for the oral interaction during the discussion as well as points for the printed documentation you hand in for your research.
